Fátima & Coimbra
Our first stop will be in Fátima.
With around six million annual visitors, the Sanctuary of Fátima is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the world, a place of deep devotion and faith for millions of believers. Your visit is a unique experience, where the faithful can attend religious ceremonies, visit the Chapel of Apparitions, the Basilicas and witness the spiritual impact of this sacred place.
Our visit to Fátima does not end without first visiting Valinhos, the small village where the three Little Shepherds were born and lived and where their well-preserved houses are available for visit.
It is on the banks of the Mondego River that we begin the second part of our tour: Coimbra. Known for its University, one of the oldest in Europe, this earned it the status of “City of Students”. The University complex includes the “Biblioteca Joanina”, the pinnacle of Portuguese Baroque and considered one of the richest European libraries, the “Chapel of St. Michael the Archangel” and the “Royal Palace”.
On our walking tour of Coimbra, nothing will be left unvisited: Sé Velha, Rua Quebra Costas, Torre Almedina, Igreja de Sta. Cruz are just some of the places… not even the Pastéis de Sta. Clara will be left untasted.
