Aveiro & Óbidos
Elected Capital of Culture 2024, Aveiro is our first stop. Between new and classics, with views of the canals, moliceiros and Art Nouveau buildings, discover with me an itinerary of art and flavors. Discovering Aveiro means delighting in the sweet soft eggs, falling in love with a moliceiro ride along the estuary and being enchanted by the elegance of the facades that define the city's picturesque landscape.
Our lunch will be in Costa Nova. The most picturesque image of Costa Nova is that of its waterfront where wooden haystacks are lined up, painted with stripes of strong colors alternating with white. Initially, these haystacks built by fishermen were used as shelter or storage for fishing equipment. Today, fully restored, they are pleasant holiday homes.
Our next stop is in Óbidos. One of the best preserved medieval villages in Portugal. Its geographical location had great strategic importance in the conquest of the territory. It was chosen as the residence of the royal family and when in the 19th century. XIII D. Dinis decides to offer it as a wedding gift to Queen D. Isabel, Óbidos belongs to the House of Queens, benefiting and enriching throughout the various dynasties. It is within the walls, between Manueline porticos, flowered windows and white houses that we find a castle, a labyrinth of streets with good examples of religious and civil architecture from the town's heyday and the famous “Ginja” of Óbidos.
Aveiro and Óbidos are destinations that captivate visitors with their authenticity and timeless beauty. Book your place now on this unforgettable trip and let yourself be enchanted by the magic of Portugal.
